Prelude (Music will be playing)
Begins with the bride’s mother follows with the groom, best man paired-up wedding party, flower girl, and ring bearer. It ends with the bride making her entrance escorted by her father who gives her away to the groom.
The groom might opt to escort his mother down the aisle and to her seat in the front row followed closely behind by the groom’s father. This gives the groom an opportunity to give his parents a hug before taking his place at the altar.
Words of Welcome.
Once everyone is in place, the officiant will say a few words of welcome. The officiant may thank guests for bearing witness to the union as welcome everyone.
We are gathered here today before friends, family, and above all else, God, to witness the holy matrimony of _________ and _________.
We thank the Lord for all the blessings that brought us here today and those that brought _________ and _________ together to make this day possible.
I’d now like to read “The officiant will read part of the Bible” or he or She ca read a section of Corinthians 13 that offers a beautiful reminder of what it means to love.
Vows are traditionally spoken by the groom first and then by the bride. This is done usually if you are repeating traditional vows, if you have written your own then you may decide who you would like to go first.
The groom usually goes first, though we invite you to be progressive. He puts the wedding band on the bride’s finger while repeating a phrase like, “I give this ring as a sign of my love.” Then, it’s the bride’s turn.
As you light this candle today, may the brightness of the flame shine throughout your lives. May it give you courage and reassurance in darkness, warmth, and safety in the cold, and strength and joy in your bodies, minds, and spirits. May your union be forever blessed.
After you’ve exchanged vows and rings, the two of you seal your marriage with a kiss. You’re officially married!
The bride and groom are the first to exit during the recessional. They are then followed by the flower girl and the ring bearer. The maid of honor and best man will then make their way down the aisle, followed by the remaining bridesmaids and groomsmen. The bride and groom’s parents will then exit.
